AGM / NMR Review - Dacor Showroom

New members Lisa Pardini and Carl Drosky show off their
aprons
The SFPFS Annual General Meeting and New Members Reception was held on
January 26th, in the beautiful, six-kitchen Dacor showroom where members
mingled, met new members and enjoyed delicious comfort foods like wild
mushroom-barley soup, pork tenderloin sandwiches and macaroni and
cheese. Several SFPFS members generously provided mouthwatering
desserts.

Membership committee representatives, Lynda Zuber Sassi
and Linda Carucci, welcome members at the door
The Annual General Meeting began by reviewing significant board actions
in 2003, highlighting the fact that SFPFS membership in 2003 rose to its
highest level since 2000.Ê As well, the creation of a fundraising chair,
helmed by Patricia Schneider, allowed the Society to recruit several
levels of sponsors, all of whom made generous cash and in-kind
contributions to programs like the Chef's Table, the Traveling Table and
the Stirring the Pot speaker series, which featured notables like Thomas
Keller, Marion Cunningham and Marion Burros. Each of these events helped
raise money to further the Society's educational and professional
programs, one of the key goals established in 2002.
In-coming President Sandra Murray expressed the Society's gratitude to
out-going President Rosemary Furfaro for being a tireless champion of
the Food Society.Ê Not only did Rosemary play a fundamental role in the
creation of the Board's new Strategic Plan in 2002, but her vision and
leadership in implementing that plan in 2003 set a strong foundation for
the future.
Sandra introduced the 2004 Board Members elected by SFPFS ballot last
fall and expressed a warm welcome to all new members and thanked all
members who so generously shared their time, talents and energy to the
Society during the past year.Highlights of upcoming events were
announced (and can be found on this site's Upcoming Events link.) The
Food Society is run almost entirely by volunteers and everyone was urged
to get involved and join a committee to reap the richness and the many
benefits the society has to offer its members.
