	Upcoming Events Recent Events Calendar Regional Groups Calendar Archive About SIGS	SFPFS Networking Event: San Francisco Monday, September 22, 2008 Local Kitchen and Wine Merchant, San Francisco Kathy Lassen-Hahne and Patrice Savery An intimate yet lively group of SFPFS members and prospective members met at one of the hot new venues in town, on this first official day of Fall. On Rincon Hill, with a fresh, sophisticated décor, Local describes itself as a neighborhood restaurant and wine bar and espouses the phrase “Drink global. Eat local.” Chef Ola Fendert also is Chef and Owner of Oola Restaurant & Bar. The sommelier and partner is Mark Bright, formerly of Restaurant Michael Mina. Kris Balloun, Patrice Savery,John Weist, Kathy Lassen-Hahne, Deb Marchetti, Gary Arsham Our party was situated in the Wine Merchant Store with walls lined with wine, and offerings including gourmet food and non-alcoholic beverages from around the world. A very French sommelier was on hand to give advice on the three Malbecs from Argentina and Chardonnay from Australia provided. Guests enjoyed delicious ribs, herb fries, prosciutto and baguette. The conversation bounced from today’s news of the election, financial crisis, Olympics, and hurricanes, to the fascinating stories, talents and backgrounds of each attendee. It was a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new introductions. The networking meetings are free, though attendees pay for their own drinks and food. The members are invited by email by the organizers.
